LORDSHIP ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

The Lordship Athletic Association was officially organized on July 23, 1919 with the following officers: Manager Bill Jacobs; captain, H. Horkheimer; secretary/treasurer, Chucky Franz; custodian of property, W. Horkheimer. The LAA sponsored fast pitch baseball teams, men and women basketball teams and even a football team in the 1920s. The LAA existed until at least the late 1930ís. The exact date of the end of the Association is unknown. Sports stories of the Lordship Athletic Association can be found on the baseball, basketball and football pages on this website. October 1, 1924: The dance given by the Lordship Athletic association Monday evening at the Firemen's hall was attended by a large number. The hall was prettily decorated with autumn colors.

September 23 1924: The Lordship Athletic association is preparing for the coming basketball season. Fred Phelan is to manage the team again this season. Vincent Delmore will be captain. There will be no change in the players. Burns and Cassidy will play forwards Lynch and Messerole will alternate at center. Delmore and Stevens will be guards.

October 30, 1924: Mr. Fred Biebel has been chosen manager of the Lordship Athletic Association basketball team.

Carol Pitman of Ohio found this in Little Rock, Arkansas at a little antique mall. I purchased it on ebay and it has made its way back home to Lordship.
