December 26, 1963: Speaking of moving, real estate tycoon Walt Auger has been busy preparing the two houses belonging to Our Lady of Peace Church on Maple and Ivy Streets for the project of moving them to Fifth Avenue where he will relocate them. The vacant lots will then become the site of the new school to be constructed by the church.

February 13, 1964 - PARISH TO BUILD IN STRATFORD: Our Lady of Peace Parish is the Lordship section of this community will open its new elementary school in September. The Reverend Vincent Cleary, Pastor of Our Lady of Peace Church said today the Joseph Vitale Construction Company of Bridgeport with a base bid of $109,118 was the lowest bidder for the four classroom school. The pastor noted with construction starting shortly the school will be ready for a September opening. The School Sisters of Notre Dame who are teaching in the Parishs temporary school in the church hall, will also staff the one story building, which will be located at Maple and Ivy Streets across from the church hall. With the church halls three classrooms for kindergarten through the third grade and the new four classrooms, Father Cleary anticipated a total enrollment of 160 pupils for the seven classrooms. The new school will be able to accommodate 160 pupils. The present school in operation for its second year has an enrollment of 120 pupils. The pastor thought the two schools should satisfy our educational needs for at least two years. Designed by John Handy Jr., AIA of Stratford, the fire resistant school is of contemporary design. Materials will include white brick masonry, tinted glass and fieldstone to harmonize with the character of the neighborhood. A cantilevered canopy will shelter the main entrance and public vestibule leading to the administration office area. A white brick wall will separate the general office waiting area. Located near the main entrance will be the principals office, teachers conference room, nurses office and medical facilities as well as storage and utility rooms. There will be a small playground in the rear of the school. Each of the classrooms will be a self-contained unit with cloakroom space, teaching storage areas, project display and work spaces.
